Whether due to scandal, retirement, or strategic differences – a coterie of Swiss bankers left the C-suite this year. finews.com looks at the year's biggest and most dramatic exits.

1. Alfred Moeckli – Abrupt Departure

Alfred Moeckli (pictured above) seemed firmly in the saddle as the CEO of Liechtenstein's VP Bank – until he was catapulted out one year ago. The bank was thin-lipped on the reasons (finews.com later reported the strategic differences behind Moeckli's exit).

The CEO's operating chief, Urs Monstein, briefly took over until VP in July hired Paul Arni, a Swiss private banking warhorse who had little luck at his most recent jobs at Deutsche Bank and Julius Baer

As for Moeckli, who hasn't yet reached retirement age: his LinkedIn profile indicates he is looking for board jobs.
