Vontobel is naming a new operating chief for its European-based bank. The move follows a wider strategic review of the Swiss bank's set-up in December.

The Zurich-based bank is naming Andreas Heinrichs operating chief of Bank Vontobel Europe in Munich, effective from September, it said in a statement on Monday. The unit unifies the Swiss bank's activities in Germany, and in turn within the European Union.

Heinrichs was part of the European entity's management for the past ten years, and until now responsible for its brokerage business. Vontobel is in the process of shuttering that unit as part of a wider reorganization, as finews.com reported  in December.

Management Slimmed

Heinrichs succeeds Bernhard Heye, who had taken the role temporarily two months ago. Heye was previously CEO of Vontobel's European bank but is now no longer part of its management. The top echelon was reduced to Heinrichs and regional private banking boss Thomas Fischer, according to Vontobel's website.
