The former head of insurer Swiss Life presided over Rothschild Bank until last year. A fledgling Swiss private bank has appointed him chairman.

The Swiss bank of Luxembourg wealth manager Quintet appointed Bruno Pfister as its chairman, it said in a statement on Monday. Pfister ran Swiss Life from 2008 until 2014, then embarked on a portfolio career of board mandates including presiding Rothschild until 2019.

He sits on the board of French insurer Scor as well as health insurer Assura, and presides Credit Suisse's asset management activities in Switzerland. Quintet is a Qatar-owned group of private banks which clinched its Swiss license last week.

Now led by veteran private banker Emmanuel Fievet in Switzerland, Quintet aims to double its roughly 40 employees currently. The bank was rocked by the sudden death of CEO and financial backer Juerg Zeltner in March. The project faces an uncertain future without his enormous «pull» power.
