Deutsche Bank is hiring an ex-Credit Suisse private banker specialized in super-rich Latin American clients.

The German lender's private banking push got a boost in Switzerland: Deutsche Bank is hiring Agnes Arlandis to run its Latin America team, from Geneva, it said in an emailed statement. She replaces Jorge Rodriguez Garcia, who Deutsche had poached from Credit Suisse two years ago for the job. Garcia will exit in two weeks, Deutsche said, without elaborating.

Arlandis is a veteran wealth manager who worked for Credit Suisse as an ultra-high net worth banker for two years until last December and, previously, for HSBC in a similar role for ten years. She will report to George Crosby, also a former HSBC banker who oversees Deutsche's Latin American private banking business from Miami, and to Loic Voide, Middle East and Africa wealth boss, in Geneva.

Swiss Offensive

She is the latest notable hire for Marco Pagliara, who in May poached Sofia Sool from UBS to Deutsche. Pagliara, an ex-Goldman Sachs private banker, advanced to Deutsche's top man in Switzerland after Claudio de Sanctis was promoted last November.

Pagliara said Deutsche hopes to «significantly increase» its business with Latin America's wealthy in Geneva. The battered German bank is assertive about using its balance sheet and investment bank to entice ultra-rich clients.
