UBS is promoting its top British banker Bea Martin to a global finance role, finews.com has learned.

The Swiss bank is appointing Bea Martin as global treasurer from December 1, it confirmed to finews.com. She replaces Carlo Pellerani, a group managing director or GMD who is leaving UBS to take become HSBC’s group treasurer, in the role.

One of UBS' highest-profile female bankers, Martin will keep her role as Chief Executive of the Swiss bank's U.K. subsidiary. She will hand over her job as operating chief of UBS' investment bank to Chris Leone, head of equities trading and risk for the unit in the Americas.

Elite Squad

A close associate of ex-unit head Andrea Orcel, Martin pushed for – and won – the title of U.K. head following his exit two years ago, in addition to operating chief under co-heads Piero Novelli and Rob Karofsky.

Martin joined UBS from Morgan Stanley, where she was a managing director, in 2012. She made GMD, an elite squad of roughly 100 uber-managing directors, five years ago. Martin is also a board member at UBS Europe, the bank's Frankfurt-based hub for the bloc.
