Dave Blumer, chairman of Blackrock Switzerland, has bought a country retreat in the North Atlantic. He isn't the only wealthy person on this island of dramatic views and a calm way of life.

Dave Blumer, chairman of Blackrock Switzerland, owns a farm in Iceland. He bought a country retreat on the island's eastern fjords, according to a report by Germany's «Manager Magazin» (behind paywall). The farm is located in the hamlet of Fáskrúðsfjörður (see below), which boasts with a touch of French savoir-vivre, as sailors from France for a long time had operated a base on this remote piece of land

The fjords of Eastern Iceland are notable for their excellent wild salmon and rugged beauty of nature. Blumer's farm lies next to the country retreat of  Jim Ratcliffe, the British industrialist, who has become the island's biggest landowner in recent years. Ratcliffe's Ineos incidentally owns Swiss football club Lausanne-Sport, and he opened the club's new stadium «Stade de la Tuilière» on Sunday.

Chad Pike, the erstwhile real-estate chief at private-equity firm Blackstone also has a home in Iceland. His «Deplare Lodge» is known as one of the most exclusive heli-skiing resort on earth, according to the «Manager Magazin».
