Swiss Life Asset Management has poached a real estate expert from consultant firm PwC. The expert will take charge of a billion-franc portfolio at the Zurich-based life insurer.

Marie Seiler will take over as head real estate portfolio management for third-party asset management business in Switzerland in the first half of 2021, according to a statement released by Swiss Life Asset Managers on Tuesday. Seiler will focus on the development and implementation of the real estate portfolio management strategy of the funds arm of Switzerland’s biggest life insurer.

Swiss Life is the owner of the largest privately held real estate portfolio in Switzerland. Assets under management amount to 35.6 billion Swiss francs ($40 billion) as of June 30, 2020, of which 7.6 billion francs were for third-party asset management in Switzerland.

15 Years Working for PwC

Seiler reports to Renato Piffaretti, head of real estate Switzerland, and will be based in Zurich. She joins the life insurer from consultant firm PWC Switzerland. At PwC, she spent 15 years working for the real estate advisory team in Zurich, Geneva, and Basel.

She holds a degree in economics from Albert-Ludwig-University in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany and is a CFA Chartered Financial Analyst.
