The Swiss asset manager furthered its Asian expansion with the opening of a new Tokyo office and the appointment of a country head for Japan.

Goji Yoshino was named country head Japan for Vontobel Asset Management, according to a statement, joining from BlueBay Asset Management as its head of institutional sales. Yoshino has more than 25 years of asset management experience and was previously responsible for institutional sales and client service at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

«Our onshore presence in Japan reaffirms Vontobel’s commitment to institutional clients in the country,» said Ulrich Behm, Vontobel Asset Management’s APAC CEO. 

Vontobel Asset Management has been rapidly expanding in Asia and recently opened a branch in Singapore alongside key hires in the region including intermediary client head Benny Gay and relationship manager Jeremy Tan in the city-state, and Mavis Huang in Hong Kong.
