St. Gallen's cantonal bank is poaching Patrick Graf, a long-standing top executive from Postfinance.

The Swiss cantonal bank is naming Patrick Graf as head of its corporate center and member of top management, effective October 1, according to a statement on Tuesday. Graf succeeds Christian Schmid who will become the state-bank’s CEO from May 1.

Graf, who is 47, will be responsible for 180 employees across SGKB's divisions including controlling, finance, legal, compliance, risk, trading, loan processing, payment transactions, and infrastructure. He ran Postfinance's corporate center unit from 2014 until 2017.

Since then, he has been in charge of large corporate clients as well as payment transactions. Graf is also chairman of the Swiss exchange operator's clearing unit, SIC.
