U.S. fintech Icapital is hiring an ex-Deutsche Bank asset manager for its European expansion.

The New York-based finance platform is naming Manuel Faccio as its head of client solutions in Europe, it said in an emailed statement on Friday. Faccio was most recently head of Switzerland at DWS, Deutsche Bank's asset management arm.

It is the first notable hire in an expansion drive by Icapital's head of international Marco Bizzozero, who previously ran Deutsche Bank's Swiss arm. Itcapital, owned and run by founder Lawrence Calcano, hoovered up $146 million in funding last year including from Blackrock.

Faccio will continue to be based in Zurich. Icapital is also hiring Edwin Chan to oversee client solutions in Asia, where he will open an office for the eight-year-old start-up in Hong Kong. Chan is a private equity veteran who most recently was managing partner at Hbridge Capital, a fund placement and advisory firm.

Both he and Faccio will report to Bizzozero.
