Acronis is appointing a veteran of Silicon Valley web-hosting company Godaddy as its new chief executive. The move follows a sizable fundraising and big ambitions for global growth.

The Swiss-Singaporean security firm is appointing Patrick Pulvermueller as its new CEO, effective immediately, it said in a statement on Wednesday. The German executive most recently was president of business with partners at Godaddy, a Silicon Valley Internet firm.

He replaces Serguei Beloussov, Acronis’ co-founder and largest shareholder who has run the company since 2013. He remains a member of the 18-year-old company's board and chief of research, a role which will see him continue to direct Acronis' research and technology strategy.

Building Revenue

Specifically, Beloussov will focus on more advanced technologies, like autonomous research and data management, the company said. Acronis said it hired Pulvermueller because he can improve its operations and build a multi-billion revenue stream.

Before Godaddy, Pulvermueller ran Host Europe, an U.K.-based website hosting firm. The CEO change comes just two months after Acronis hoovered up $250 million in funding, including from private equity powerhouse CVC.
