The Credit Suisse Private Banking team for the wealthiest German and Austrian clients appointed a new head who has an extensive track record in that area.

Andreas Berger took up the position as Credit Suisse's head of ultra-high net worth (UHNWI) clients in Germany and Austria at the start of the week, according to an email sent by the bank. Berger will report to Mischa Tschopp, the head of International Wealth Management (IWM) in Germany and Austria.

Tschopp was appointed as head of the division only last year and it likely now starting to make relevant management and organizational changes.

Partner at a Multi-Family-Office

Berger has extensive experience of super-rich clients given his past position as partner of Swiss multi-family-office Nahmani Grunder. Before that, he worked at UBS for almost 20 years in a number of leadership positions, the last as head of the UHNWI segment for Israeli, Turkish and African clients.

Credit Suisse disposed of its German Private Banking business in 2013 by selling it to Bethmann Bank. Since then, it has concentrated on super-wealthy German clients with more than $60 million in assets.
