As of this week, corona tests are no longer free of charge in Switzerland. A Swiss neobank sees an opportunity to attract new clients.

Zurich-based fintech Yapeal, is offering to take over costs for corona antigen tests on Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays for clubbers at Zurich’s Club Bellevue, according to a company statement (in German). As from October 21, the offer will extend to party-goers in Bern's Club Du Théâtre. The campaign runs until November 11 and is limited to three tests during this period.

Existing clients can take advantage of the deal straight away, while new clients need to download the Yapeal app 24 hours before taking the test in the clubs' test centers. Once the COVID certificate appears on the client’s account, Yapeal transfers the money to the test center directly.

More Swiss Cities

«Young people suffered particularly under the corona restrictions,» Christian Luescher, Yapeal's chief marketing officer tells finews.com. «Yapeal is by no means against vaccinations, but we wanted to make going out easier for them,» he says.

The campaign is being trialed in Zurich and Bern first, with plans for a roll-out in other Swiss cities.
