The Genevan wealth manager's overseer in Asia will step down after a decade. He will join a local lender with ties to Pictet.

Claude Haberer, a Pictet equity partner and chairman of the wealth management arm in Asia, will join Bangkok Bank as an advisor to the president from January 2022 following his retirement from the Swiss wealth manager, it said in a statement on Thursday.  

His move is part of a newly established strategic alliance between Pictet and the Thai bank, with the Swiss firm providing wealth and investment management expertise to enhance Bangkok Bank's services in Thailand.

The two go back: Pictet acted as an advisor to Bangkok Capital Asset Management’s two newly launched multi-asset funds while its subsidiary BBL Asset Management launched a green fund that invests in sustainability funds managed by Pictet's money management arm.  

Haberer joined Pictet as chief executive in Asia ten years ago. He became chairman of the unit in 2019, following changes made by then-Pictet partner Boris CollardiPreviously, he held various senior roles at BNP Paribas, including as its North Asia private banking CEO.
