Swiss crypto provider 21Shares is hiring to fuel its international expansion.

Zug-based 21Shares is hiring Bernhard Wenger (pictured below) as its new head of northern Europe, effective immediately, according to an emailed statement. Wenger was previously country head of Switzerland at State Street.

Additionally, 21Shares said Peter Maerkl will build the legal department for its parent company, Amun, in Zurich and New York. Most recently with law firm Heuking, Maerkl was before that a lawyer for emerging market clients at UBS’ ultra-rich and family office unit, led by Josef «Joe» Stadler. 

21Shares was a pioneer in the first cryptocurrency index on Switzerland's stock exchange in 2018. The start-up, manages $2.5 billion in 17 cryptocurrency exchange-traded products and 77 listings, is backed by Ark Invest's Cathie Wood.
