The Swiss private bank is expanding in Madrid with a bid to win more Spanish independent wealth managers.

Zurich-based Julius Baer is hiring Claudia Linares to development business in the market with Spanish intermediaries, it said in an emailed statement on Thursday. She held a similar role at UBS in Madrid for the last four years.

Jorge Saavedra Doménech and Carlos Navarro Sabán, also of UBS, will round out Linares' new team devoted to the financial intermediaries segment.

Julius Baer is also seconding intermediaries veteran Claudio Beretta to Madrid to shepherd this push. He is an 11-year veteran of the Swiss bank who is currently based in Lugano as head of intermediaries for western Europe and in Iberia.
