The Swiss stock exchange has won another EU partner through its latest Cyprus deal.

SIX is providing the Cyprus Stock Exchange with a post-trade solution to enable safekeeping, settlement and asset servicing for Euro Medium Term Notes, it said in a statement Monday.

The post-trade infrastructure will help the Cyprus Stock Exchange in its function as a central securities depository, providing further liquidity for the Republic’s funding vehicles, the statement says.

European Activity

Through the partnership SIX gains another EU collabrator after Switzerland was deprived of stock exchange equivalence in the European market as a consequence of breaking off negotiations on a framework agreement with the EU in 2019.

SIX business dealings in the EU include its activities on the Spanish stock exchange Bolsas y Mercados Españoles, which it owns, and its cooperation with the British financial center, an area it is looking to strengthen in this year.
