GAM promotes a woman from within to become the new firm's new chief financial officer who joins the board as well.

Sally Orton, currently serving as deputy chief financial officer of GAM, is taking a step up to become the firm's new CFO with immediate effect, and will also join the group's management board, the company announced Wednesday.

Orton takes over the CFO role from Richard McNamara, who served in the role since 2015 and has decided to step down. He will leave the firm towards the end of the year, working in the meantime with Orton to hand over the role.
