The Zurich fintech Gentwo seeks to expand its offerings beyond professional investors to the retail sector.

Gentwo, the Zurich-based securitization specialist for digital and alternative investments announced on Thursday that Swiss retail investors will be able to invest in all types of assets in addition to financial intermediaries, the firm announced on Thursday. Gentwo thus clears an important regulatory hurdle that fintechs in the field continue to struggle with, which is that alternative investments are usually reserved for professional investors.

However, the startup is not reaching out to the masses themselves, but rather providing its regular customers - financial intermediaries, banks, and asset managers - with ready-to-use solutions for private individuals.

Still, this amounts to what is another step in the ongoing trend toward the democratization of alternative investments.

Fintech Celebrities

Gentwo has gathered plenty of banking and fintech celebrities in its ranks. Influencer Spiros Margaris sits on the advisory board, as does former UBS banker Martha Boeckenfeld.

Martha Boeckenfeld is considered a thought leader on the Metaverse and is a partner and dean of the Metaverse Academy which was founded in April by Swiss digital agency Kuble as a virtual educational institution providing knowledge and the exchange of ideas around virtually experienceable, interactive parallel worlds.
