Syz Capital taps a crypto expert to run the alternative investment unit of the family-owned Syz Group. He will head the liquid alternative investments business.
Richard Byworth joins Syz Capital, an independent asset manager specializing in illiquid and liquid investments, and part of the family-owned Syz Group. Byworth will lead the liquid alternative portfolios business as a managing partner at the Zurich-based firm, including investment and advisory services and distribution for the firm.
The experienced investment professional began his career in investment banking in London and later worked in Tokyo and Hong Kong as a managing director for Japanese brokerage Nomura, according to a statement. Recently, as CEO of Eqonex Group, he developed the first ecosystem for digital assets, which he took to Nasdaq.
For Yvan Gaillard, CEO of Bank Syz, Byworth's entry into the group comes at the right time, as the entire group is looking to expand its capabilities in cryptocurrencies and digital assets.
