Swiss asset manager GAM has transferred the management of two equity strategies to a top portfolio manager in the firm.

GAM will transfer the responsibilities of GAM China and GAM Asian equity strategies to investment director Jian Shi Cortesi, according to a statement, subject to regulatory approval.

In the interim, the direct responsibility for managing these strategies will continue to be carried out by manager Rob Mumford, who will also remain a member of the emerging markets equities team with a focus on sustainable EM equity strategy.

Luxury Brands

In the expanded role, Jian will lead a team focused on Asian and China equity strategies, while teaming up with Swetha Ramachandran, the firm's luxury brands investment director. Jian will also be supported by senior analyst Wendy Chen as part of the wider collaboration within the global equities team led by Mark Hawtin.

Jian currently also manages the GAM Asia Focus and the GAM China Evolution equity strategies. She will continue to be based in Switzerland and report to global head of investments David Dowsett.
