Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot teamed up with MEIS architects to build the largest-ever soccer venue in the Spatial metaverse just ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Hublot unveiled its «Hublot Loves Football Metaverse Stadium», for which it teamed with MEIS architects who designed Everton FC, Crypto.com, and Roma, stadiums according to a press release.

The structure of the stadium was inspired by Hublot's Big Bang e-watch and is a hybrid space for sports, the arts, and digital events. Spatial.io is the Web3 home for luxury brands in the metaverse with over 4 million minutes spent on the platform every week.

In 2018, Hublot unveiled the Big Bang Meca-10 P2P that could only be purchased with Bitcoin, to commemorate the cryptocurrency's tenth anniversary.

User Experience

The general public can access the virtual stadium designed for 90,000 spectators via Spatial.io which has a one-kilometer-long concourse and a media wall.

As part of its «Hublot Loves Football» campaign, virtual reality exhibitions will appear next to Hublot boutiques in luxury shopping malls in Doha, Kulala Lumpur, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand during November. Hublot is the official timekeeper of the FIFA world cup which beings in 13 days in Qatar.

The event has not been without controversy surrounding sports washing and human rights abuses as «Forbes» and other media outlets have reported.
