Swiss Re proposes electing two new members to its board of directors at its annual general meeting to take the place of others not standing for re-election.

Swiss Re's Board of Directors is nominating Vanessa Lau and Pia Tischhauser for election to the Board of Directors at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on April 12, 2023. Current Board members Renato Fassbind and Susan Wagner are not standing for re-election, the insurer said in an emailed statement Friday.

Lau is the group chief financial officer (CFO) of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX). Before joining HKEX in 2015, she served as vice president & senior research Analyst at Sandford C. Bernstein starting in 2011. Before that, she was CFO of Alcoa's global rolled products group in New York. Before that, she was an associate principal at McKinsey & Company in Hong Kong, having started her career at PwC UK, where she held various positions.

Tischhauser was a member of the executive committee of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) from 2016 until the end of 2021, and also the global head of BCG's Insurance practice group from 2015 to 2021. Previously, she led the global commercial insurer and reinsurer business in BCG's Insurance practice group and was responsible for developing and growing the insurance business in Switzerland and the UK.

Stepping Down

At the upcoming AGM, Renato Fassbind is not putting himself forth for re-election. He is vice chairman and lead independent director of the board of directors and chairman of the audit committee and member of the governance and nomination committee and the compensation committee. He has been a member of the Swiss Re Board of Directors since 2011.

After nine years as a member of the Swiss Re board of directors, Susan L. Wagner also is not standing for re-election. She chairs the investment committee and is a member of the governance and nominating committee, and was a member of the finance and risk committee for many years.
