A longtime UBS banker who made his name as a client platform specialist has moved to a US competitor to start the year, and takes on a new leadership role.

Andreas Przewloka worked for UBS for nearly 20 years, including as CEO in Luxembourg and various operational management functions in the European business. He was instrumental in setting up the pan-European client platform. Most recently, he was the chief operating officer (COO) and member of the management board of UBS Europe, the bank's European unit, which he left last September.

Head of Germany

Now he has a new job, according to his LinkedIn profile. Przewloka is the managing director (executive vice president and CEO) of State Street Bank International (SSBI). In the role which he assumed this year, he reports to Joerg Ambrosius, chief commercial officer at State Street and chairman of the supervisory board at SSBI.

In his new role, he is responsible for State Street's custody and investment business in continental Europe from Frankfurt and is also head of Germany.

Responsible for strategic client relationships

Przewloka succeeds Stefan Gmuer, who has been head of SSBI for the past two decades. Gmuer continues to be responsible for several strategic client relationships, according to a report in Germany's «Private Banking Magazin» (in German).

In addition, he will be the global head of the public institutions segment and in this role will expand business relationships. He continues to report to Ambrosius.

US-based State Street employs 41,000 people worldwide and with customer assets under management of $3.3 trillion at the end of September.
