Lombard Odier deepens its involvement in the Brazilian market with two new hires from competitor Julius Baer.

Private bank Lombard Odier has added top-level personnel to its team in Brazil. Rogerio Zanin becomes the new head of the São Paulo metropolitan office and Juliana Lage will serve as the newly appointed chief operating officer (COO) for Brazil.

The hires underscore the group's commitment to its core strategic market of Brazil by strengthening its local presence. Lage succeeds Mariella Assumpção Gontijo, who will leave the company to pursue personal projects, according to a statement from Lombard Odier Wednesday.

Julius Baer Experience

Both new hires previously worked at Zurich-based private bank Julius Baer in Brazil, and Zanin has nearly 30 years of experience in the Brazilian financial markets. His professional background includes JP Morgan and the domestic Unibanco. He also worked as a partner at GPS Investimentos, which was majority acquired by Julius Baer in 2014.

Lage, who was a family office relationship manager at Julius Baer, also previously worked at GPS Investimentos.

Lombard Odier started a presence in the Brazilian market with a branch office in the spring of 2021.
