SBB ticket machines are already a point of sale for cryptocurrencies but buying cryptos on them has become even easier.

It is now easier and safer to buy cryptocurrencies at SBB ticket vending machines, Valora's k kiosk, Press & Books and avec shops at train stations following Swiss crypto exchange Smart Valor’s partnership with fintech SweePay, according to a statement by the two companies.

Customers have been able to purchase cryptocurrencies via a paper wallet from SBB ticket vending machines since 2016. The new service generates a new crypto wallet with either private keys or passwords after customers have confirmed their purchase, the statement said.

Captive Commuters

Considering that every day, up to 1.25 million people travel on SBB trains and buy coffee or newspapers from Valora's outlets, «at present, we could hardly wish for greater client exposure,» Olga Feldmeier, founder of Smart Valor said.

«With Smart Valor (...) will be able to support our Swiss, but also European strategy,» Rodolphe Texier, founder of SweePay added in the statement.
