The Swiss private bank Pictet is hiring in Ticino to support its growth plans in the region, according to research by finews.com.

Geneva-based Pictet is looking for a private banker to bolster its wealth management business in Ticino, a spokesperson from the bank confirmed to finews.com.

Although active in Italian-speaking Switzerland, the banker will be part of a Zurich-based team. The person will be required to keep updated on local developments and market events and be able to understand how they affect client accounts, according to the requirements.

Growing Financial Center

«We are convinced of Ticino’s market potential and want to further expand our business in the region,» a spokesperson for the bank told finews.com. Pictet's German-speaking Swiss business came under the leadership of Verena Gross this spring, as finews.com reported.

Pictet's Ticino push corresponds to a trend in Ticino's financial center which saw numerous wealthy individuals and families from abroad settle in the region after the pandemic. Furthermore, the city of Lugano has also emerged as a hub for blockchain technology in relation to its «Plan B» initiative.

Loyal Banks

Banks, including Julius Baer, Vontobel, EFG International (with the former BSI), Syz or Reyl (now owned by Italy's Intesa San Paolo Group) have also remained loyal and are maintaining their presence in southern Switzerland.
