After CEO Patrick Frost took off in 2017 due to illness, Swiss Life's Switzerland CEO is doing the same.

Markus Leibundgut, CEO of Swiss Life Switzerland, is temporarily withdrawing from the operational business following a cancer diagnosis, Switzerland's largest life insurer announced Thursday. Chief Financial Officer of the Swiss unit, Roman Stein, takes over as interim head of the Swiss market unit, simultaneously retaining his CFO function.

Leibundgut will undergo treatment for colon cancer through the first quarter of 2024 and will be absent during that time.
