OpenAI’s chief executive Sam Altman is the first person to obtain Indonesia’s newly introduced golden visa which aims to attract foreign investors.

Sam Altman, OpenAI CEO and co-founder, has obtained a 10-year pass under Indonesia’s golden visa scheme, according to a statement from immigration director general Silmy Karim. Benefits enjoyed include priority security screening at airports, longer stay periods, easier entry or exit processes and more.

According to Karim, Altman, who visited Jakarta in June to speak about artificial intelligence, «has an international reputation and may bring benefits to Indonesia». Indonesia recently launched its golden visa scheme aimed at attracting foreign investment from individuals and companies.
