Private bank Lombard Odier appoints a new co-head of asset management. She was previously CEO of a French competitor.

Geneva-based private bank Lombard Odier has appointed Bettina Ducat as co-head of Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) effective from March 5, 2024. She will run the group’s investments division along with managing partner Jean-Pascal Porcherot, as reported in a press release on Monday.

Ducat is the former CEO of French investment company La Financière de l’Echiquier and was deputy CEO in charge of asset management at the Primonial Group. Ducat also spent 13 years working for Axa Investment Managers, most recently as the company’s head of global distribution. The finance expert holds a Master’s degree from the University of St. Gallen (HSG).

Increasingly Important

«Bettina Ducat’s leadership experience and track record in equities, distribution and the development of investment strategies based on sustainability will be of great value to LOIM», her new co-head commented on her appointment.

Ducat is taking over the role held by Nathalia Barazal, who has been co-head of LOIM for the last three years. Barazal can look back on 19 years at the Geneva private bank.

In recent years, the investment business has become increasingly important at the bank, which was traditionally aligned towards private banking with wealthy private clients. This is not least due to the aggressively promoted sustainability focus.

Strong Proponent for Investments

Since the start of 2023, Hubert Keller has also been working as senior management partner of the partner-managed group – he ran LOIM up until 2020 and is therefore a key proponent for asset management within the company.

At the end of December 2023, the investments division, with its 150 investment professionals, managed around 74 billion dollars, measured against the full client assets of the group, which totaled 308 billion Swiss francs at the end of last June.
