1875 Finance Hires Prominent Swiss Private Banker

Geneva-based wealth manager 1875 Finance is strengthening its presence in Zurich’s financial centre. Peter Raskin has been appointed Director at the firm’s Zurich office, the company announced on Thursday. His primary focus will be on expanding the private client business.

Raskin has more than 20 years of experience in private banking and wealth management and is a well-known figure in Zurich’s financial community.

Long career at Berenberg

The dual German-Swiss citizen moved to Zurich in 2000 to become Head of Legal at BHF-Bank (Switzerland) and joined the Executive Board five years later.

In 2009, he took over the management of Berenberg Bank (Switzerland). Raskin later assumed additional global responsibility for the Berenberg Group’s international private banking business, initially including London and subsequently its activities in Germany and Luxembourg.

In 2018, Raskin led Berenberg Bank (Switzerland) into independence. The bank subsequently became today’s Bergos AG, in which Raskin also became a shareholder.

Focus on clients

The 58-year-old is now joining 1875 Finance. «With 1875 Finance, I have deliberately chosen an independent and outstanding player in the market that allows me to focus once again on what matters most to me: clients and colleagues,» Raskin said.

Paul Kohler, CEO and co-founder of 1875 Finance, described Raskin as a wealth manager who puts people at the heart of his work. His commitment to clients made him an excellent fit for the company, Kohler said.

The appointment underscores 1875 Finance’s growth ambitions in Zurich. The company has offices in Geneva and Zurich and, according to its own figures, manages assets of more than 20 billion Swiss francs, making it one of Switzerland’s larger independent wealth managers.

1875 Finance operates in three areas: wealth management and advisory services for private clients, multi-family office services, and asset management for institutional clients.
