Klaus Wellershoff Founds AI Startup With ETH Students

Klaus Wellershoff, founder and CEO of Wellershoff & Partners, wants to give it another shot. In mid-October, together with ETH computer science students Ryan Fuchs and Boris Kantor, he founded Turiq AG, based in Zurich, an AI startup with which Wellershoff, according to a media release on Thursday, wants to "revolutionize investment communication."

The AI platform developed by the two computer science students together with Wellershoff & Partners is intended to support financial institutions in market analysis, preparing investment decisions, and investment communication. The platform, which has already secured its first external clients, is now being tested for one year in the day-to-day work of Wellershoff & Partners.

Origin in St. Gallen hackathon

After that, further development is to take place under the Turiq umbrella. Fuchs, as CEO, is responsible for corporate and product development, while Kantor, as CTO, is responsible for the technology.

The origin of the startup, or ETH spin-off, is interesting. In September 2025, four ETH computer science students developed a prototype for identifying market-relevant news within 36 hours at the hackathon held as part of Swiss AI Weeks in St. Gallen, in response to a task set by Wellershoff & Partners. This led to today's platform.

More efficient processes, stronger client loyalty

According to the release, Turiq combines external market information with internal analyses and portfolio data. The platform is designed to help CIO offices and investment teams identify relevant developments at an early stage, analyze possible effects on portfolios, and prepare investment decisions more efficiently. The assessments can also be tailored individually for client advisers and end clients

Turiq supports the entire information process from market monitoring to client communication, thereby creating the conditions for financial institutions to achieve more efficient processes, improved internal information flow, higher advisory quality and, as a result, stronger client loyalty.

Open architecture, no client data for training

The AI platform, which is not tied to any specific AI model, develops its applications in close collaboration with financial institutions. "The technical control of the AI platform lies with the users. They determine the information sources, define the criteria for classification, and decide whether the results are approved." Responsibility for investment decisions and client communication remains with the relevant specialists. Client data is not used to train the AI models.

Turiq co-founder Wellershoff explains: "Our goal is to create an operating system for the investment business that fundamentally changes investment communication. The platform is intended to enable financial institutions to use their own expertise more precisely, process information more efficiently, and serve their clients better."
