Cembra expands vehicle financing
The transaction announced in July was completed as planned, Cembra said on Tuesday. Of the acquired financing portfolio, worth around 800 million Swiss francs, 670 million Swiss francs were consolidated as of Nov. 2, 2026. The acquisition of the remaining portion is scheduled for 2027.
In addition to the loan and leasing portfolio, Cembra is also taking over existing partnership agreements with several international automobile and motorcycle manufacturers. In doing so, the bank is expanding its market position in financing new cars in particular.
Positive impact on profitability expected
Cembra expects the acquisition to increase earnings per share from 2027. From 2028, the group's return on equity is expected to rise by around 25 basis points as a result of the transaction.
At the same time, Cembra has agreed an exclusive partnership with Santander for pan-European leasing and financing programs in Switzerland. This is intended to secure the long-term cooperation and open up additional business opportunities.
The acquisition will also increase Cembra's business volume on its new leasing platform. The additional scale is expected to improve efficiency in the vehicle financing business.
