A prominent Swiss banker is leaving the Genevan private bank's fund management arm after just five months.

Banque Syz's Guido Bolliger is leaving his role as «chief investment architect» after just five months, the Genevan private bank said in a statement on Monday. The quant specialist will maintain ties to the bank as an outside adviser, Syz said.

The won't be replaced in the architecture job, which had superseded the traditional investment chief role. Bolliger's exit follows that of  Fabrizio Quirighetti, who moved to rival Decalia Asset Management, which is run by Syz co-founder Alfredo Piacentini. Syz said it Benoît Vaucher, its head of quantitative investments, would replace Bolliger as head of its flagship Oyster range of funds.

Outside Help

Syz is tapping reinforcement in foreign exchange expert Stephen Jen, who joins as an outside adviser for a recently-created total return strategy team led by Adrien Pichoud. Jen heads and is co-CIO at London-based hedge fund Eurizon SLJ Capital, which is part of Italy's Intesa Sanpaolo.

The asset management business of Syz has been beset by other departures than those of Bolliger and Quirighetti. Last year, unit head Katja Coudray and hedge fund specialist Romain Faraut also left their roles.
