The industry association has added new members to its board. Two representatives of major banks have taken on new roles on the board of the Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland.

The Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland (AFBS) has appointed Enna Pariset, CEO of French banking giant BNP Paribas, as its deputy chair. She is joined on the board by Loïc Voide (image below). By profession, he is chief country officer of Deutsche Bank in Switzerland.

The co-optations ensure that the composition of the board reflects the diversity of the group of foreign banks in Switzerland with regard to business operations and geographic coverage, as was stated at the industry lobby on Thursday. The association is currently made up of 95 member banks.

Like a Universal Bank

The gap in the Swiss banking landscape which was left when major bank Credit Suisse collapsed presents many opportunities for foreign banks with the backing of their parent groups. At Thursday’s announcement, we also heard that the group of foreign banks is similar to a large, universal bank. Thanks to its range of services and global presence through networking with parent banks, clients of the foreign banks in Switzerland are granted access to global markets, AFBS also shared.

The board, led by chair Adrian Noesberger, is now made up as follows:

  • Adrian Noesberger, CEO of Schroder & Co Bank, chair
  • Alfonso Gomez, CEO of BBVA (Suiza), deputy chair
  • Enna Pariset, CEO of BNP Paribas Group in Switzerland, deputy chair
  • Mauro De Stefani, CEO of Banca Popolare di Sondrio (Suisse), treasurer
  • Peter Gabriele, CEO of J.P. Morgan (Suisse)
  • Daniel Belfer, CEO of Bank J. Safra Sarasin
  • Marni McManus, Chief country officer, Switzerland, Monaco & Liechtenstein,
    Citibank (Switzerland)
  • Gabriel Castello, CEO of HSBC Private Bank (Suisse), regional head EMEA Global
    Private Banking country head Switzerland
  • Laurent Gagnebin, CEO at Rothschild & Co Bank
