The council overseeing Switzerland's central bank is adding two new members – one of them a veteran of alpine nation's financial services industry.

The Swiss National Bank is adding Romeo Lacher and Christoph Maeder to its council, or board which oversees the central bank, in April, it said in a statement. Lacher is a 26-year veteran of Credit Suisse who chaired Swiss stock exchange operation SIX for more than three years and is now chairman of Julius Baer.

The duo replace Olivier Steimer, former chairman of Banque Cantonale Vaudoise who is hitting term limits, and Heinz Karrer, current head of Economiesuisse who plans to leave the Swiss business lobby in April. Lacher and Maeder, who will replace Karrer at Economiesuisse, are proposed to serve the remainder of a four-year term ending in 2024.
