The Swiss-based insurer is poaching from the British bank to replace outgoing finance chief Philip Bancroft.

Zurich-based Chubb is hiring Peter Enns as its chief financial officer, effective from April, it said in a statement. Current finance chief Philip Bancroft is retiring after 19 years at the insurer or at ACE, which was acquired by Chubb in 2016.

Enns is a long-standing investment banker who had relocated to Hong Kong as co-head of HSBC's advisory and investment banking in 2019. He previously was a partner with Goldman Sachs' U.S. financial institutions in New York.

Bancroft, who retires in July, will advise Enns on the transition until year-end. Chubb CEO Evan Greenberg highlighted Enns' experience in property, casualty, life insurance, asset management, and Asia.
