Around two weeks before one of Switzerland's biggest financial court cases in history, new curiosities keep coming to light.

Beat Stocker, who led the credit card company Aduno from 2006 to 2011, was apparently not employed as CEO permanently but held the position on a freelance basis,  «SonntagsBlick» reported.

Stocker will face trial on January 25 alongside ex-Raiffeisen CEO Pierin Vincenz, who chaired Aduno’s board.

A freelance CEO is a strange construct, labor law expert Roger Rudolph of the University of Zurich told the newspaper: «In my 20 years practicing law, I've never seen a full-time CEO employed on a mandate basis,» he said.

A freelance arrangement gives both sides more freedom with less control. Stocker did not comment to the outlet. The presumption of innocence applies. Stocker and Vincenz deny all accusations made by the public prosecutor.
