Deutsche Bank is using the crisis at Credit Suisse to its advantage, recently poaching a longtime Credit Suisse private equity specialist.

Deutsche Bank is hiring Credit Suisse's head of financial sponsors, in the latest high-profile hire by the German bank, which is taking the opportunity to bring prominent staff aboard from the Swiss bank.

Freya van Oorsouw is joining Deutsche Bank in July as co-head of Global Financial Sponsors, «Financial News» (behind paywall) reported, citing London sources. Spokespeople for Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse declined to comment.

Long Credit Suisse Career

Van Oorsouw had been with Credit Suisse's European leveraged finance and global financial sponsors group since 1996 and was promoted to head of private equity in 2015.

Since Credit Suisse was forced into a marriage with UBS in March, rivals have been trying to poach key staff. A hiring freeze has been lifted at some banks to bring in new staff.

More Departures

Deutsche Bank hired William Mansfield, Credit Suisse's head of M&A in the EMEA region, as head of investment banking in the region in April. He had been with the Swiss bank for 27 years and took over responsibility for running the consumer investment banking business in the EMEA region in March.

Citigroup, in turn, took on Greg Dalle, a Credit Suisse dealmaker, as co-head of industrials banking, capital markets and advisory, and Maarten Swart as co-head of EMEA BCMA consumer and retail alongside Emre Eler.
