Falcon Private Bank, the company controlled by the rulers of Abu Dhabi, today reported two major appointments. They will work as senior relationship managers at the bank, which had been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons following the news about the scandal involving Malaysia’s 1MDB fund.

Falcon Private Bank has hired Christian Blum and Gregor Cantieni, who will start working as senior relationship managers on September 1, 2017, the bank said in a statement today.

Blum and Cantieni (pictured below) will report directly to Walter Berchtold, the CEO of the private bank. Berchtold and his two most recent appointments all have a past at Credit Suisse (CS), Switzerland’s second-largest bank.

Cantieni last worked for CS, where he was in charge of premium mandate services. Blum by contrast most recently was at Zurich-based Julius Baer. He joined the private bank in 2015 as head of a unit managing very rich clients in 2015. The unit had been created by Barend Fruithof, then head of Switzerland at the bank. Fruithof left a year ago. Blum departed in November.
