Swiss insurer Baloise has forged another strategic partnership as it adapts to the digitization of the insurance industry.

The Basel-based insurer has agreed a link-up with the French app-developer Valoo, Baloise said on Friday. This will enable users to administer processes from purchase to sale and to insure and evaluate services and policies.

Baloise will become the exclusive insurance partner for Valoo in Switzerland, it said.

The deal is a further step in Baloise’s strategic «Simply Safe» program, launched a year ago and aimed at winning a million new customers and 2 billion Swiss francs in new money by 2021.

Strategic Move

For this purpose Baloise has set aside some 50 million francs for participating in European, British and U.S.-based startups, which have the potential for driving its digital development.

In March the insurer invested in in Omni:us, a Berlin-based company specializing in artificial intelligence applications, as finews.com also reported.
