Tamedia has plowed hundreds of millions into a digital push in recent years. Now, the Zurich publishing house is adding a blockchain-based fintech to the mix.

Media house Tamedia, which publishes Swiss daily «Tages Anzeiger», has invested in blockchain startup Lykke, the company said in a statement on Monday (in German). The publisher said it will keep investing in the fintech space after the deal with Lykke, which is a platform for trading cryptocurrencies and other blockchain-based assets.

Tamedia said it wants to help the Zug-based startup, which employs roughly 100 people, to expand its offering. Samuel Huegli, who is responsible for technology and investments for the publisher, will join Lykke's board. Neither the size of the stake nor the price was disclosed.
