Additiv is naming a new head in Asia to spur growth in the region. The fintech's new hire is a veteran of Credit Suisse.

The Zurich-based fintech firm said Bert-Jan van Essen will be its managing director in Asia from April, in a statement on Friday. Van Essen replaces Thomas Achhorner, who will instead develop strategic markets.

Van Essen was most recently technology chief at Privé Technologies as well as co-founder of Dragon Wealth. From 2002 until 2011, he was with Credit Suisse, including as tech chief for the Swiss bank's wealth arm in Asia.

The move comes after Additiv, backed by Swiss investor Martin Ebnerpoached Citigroup banker Adrian Weiss for its Asian business. Weiss is now Additiv's operating chief, according to the start-up's website.
