German fintech bank N26 is about to launch its services in Switzerland. The CEO expects this to happen within a couple of months.

N26, which is based in Berlin, will start its business in Switzerland in two to three months, according to a report in «St. Galler Tagblatt». The Swiss newspaper cited N26 founder Valentin Stalf.

N26 hat originally planned its Swiss launch for Friday, 22nd of March, but hadn't been ready for the move, Stalf told a startup summit in St. Gallen.

The bank also wants to expand to the U.S. It already has an office in New York with 60 staff busy preparing the U.S. launch.

Vying for Business

In Switzerland, the bank won't be the first to offer free banking solutions, but the biggest. At the beginning of the year, the company was worth some 2.7 billion Swiss francs ($2.7 billion).

Another of the neo-banks, Revolut, has been operating in Switzerland for quite some time. Revolut in Switzerland counted more than 50,000 customers by the end of 2018. N26 at the end of January said that more than 10,000 people based in Switzerland had put their names down for an account with the company.
