One of UBS’s most influential bankers in Europe is leaving the company to assume a prominent position at a German rival.

Barbara Rupf Bee, head of German onshore wealth management at UBS Europe, is leaving the company in mid-May, «Private Banking Magazin» reported. UBS confirmed the move.

Switzerland’s largest bank regretted that Rupf Bee was leaving but emphasized the departure was on amicable terms. UBS Europe will inform soon about a replacement for the manager.

A Fast Career

Rupf Bee will assume a new role at Allianz Global Investors (AGI) as head of Europe, Middle East and Africa, in charge of the distribution in that region.

She will report to Tobias Pross, who had remained in that position ad interim while also acting as global head of distribution after his appointment in April 2018. Rupf Bee will also be a member of the global executive committee at AGI.

Previous Employers

Before her time at UBS, the Swiss citizen was at the Deutsche Bank asset and wealth management division. She left that job in September 2016. She also worked for HSBC and Julius Baer in London as well as in private banking at J.P. Morgan.
