Viseca, a Swiss credit card provider, plans to introduce a mobile-payment application. It won’t however work on Apple devices popular in Switzerland.

Viseca, which is a credit card firm supported by the banking industry, is about to launch a mobile payment app for smartphones. Initially, customers will only be able to upload their Viseca cards if they use mobile devices operated by Android, according to a report by «Handelszeitung».

After the introduction of the system, Viseca clients will be able to use Samsung Pay and Google Pay, but not Apple Pay.

Demands From Apple Make Cooperation Complicated

The cooperation with Apple was complicated, said Viseca, which is a unit of Aduno, the payment service specialist. Other financial service firms have also voiced their concern about working with Apple. The U.S. company demands from its partners a contribution towards its marketing budget and a share of the sales. It prevents access to NFC transmission of payment data until its partner firms agree to those demands.

Last month, the company announced via Twitter that it would launch mobile payments, prodded by partner banks unhappy about its blockage against mobile payment services. Some companies had gone as far as providing clients with credit cards that offer access to Apple Pay.

Swift Introduction of Payment Solutions

The banks are facing pressures from all sides, not least because they also are shareholders of the Swiss payment solution Twint. Credit Suisse and Swisscard, joint venture it has with American Express, opened its business for Samsung Pay and Apple Pay in spring. UBS currently doesn’t support foreign payment solution on its credit cards.
