Lombard Odier is benefiting from Rothschild & Co shutting down in Singapore. The Genevan wealth manager is nabbing a high-profile private banker off its Swiss rival, finews.com has learned.

Lombard Odier is hiring Audrey Zau as a senior relationship manager in Hong Kong office, a person familiar with the matter told finews.com. Most recently, Zau was head of Rothschild & Co's wealth management operations in Asia.

A spokesman for Lombard Odier confirmed Zau's appointment. Her exit follows comments by Rothschild CEO Laurent Gagnebin to finews.com that the Swiss wealth manager would no longer maintain two separate offices in Asia, as part of a renewed focus on its European roots.

Lombard Odier, last year elevated its top banker in Asia, Vincent Magnenat, illustrating its desire to grow in the region. The family-controlled private bank, which also recently also poached from Julius Baer, recently replenished its partner ranks with Swiss veteran Alexandre Zeller, after ex-Deutsche Banker Hugo Baenziger departed abruptly.
