The Genevan wealth manager is nabbing a veteran private banker from Credit Suisse as a partner. The move follows the exit last year of another Lombard Odier partner.

Alexandre Zeller will join Lombard Odier as a Partner next month, the Geneva-based wealth manager said in a statement on Thursday. Zeller is a veteran of Swiss private banking and has since 2016 sat on Credit Suisse's board as well as presided that of the bank's Swiss unit.

His partnership at Lombard Odier marks a return for the Genevan native, who ran HSBC's private bank in Switzerland during the Falciani data scandal which plagued the British bank for years. The 58-year-old became chairman of stock exchange operator SIX after leaving HSBC, and moved to Credit Suisse three years ago.

Return to Lombard Odier

At Lombard Odier, Zeller will oversee the private bank's tech arm – meaning he is responsible for innovation, new technology, and digitization projects. He knows Lombard Odier well: Zeller sat on the board of an entity for its Swiss bank from 2014 to 2016.

His entrance as partner follows the surprise exit of Hugo Baenziger from Lombard Odier's partnership last year. From next month, Lombard Odier's partner ranks will be comprised of senior partner Patrick Odier as well as Christophe Hentsch, Hubert Keller, Frédéric Rochat, Denis Pittet, Annika Falkengren and Zeller. Some of the partners represent the seventh generation of the bank's founding family.
