Juerg Zeltner-led wealth manager Quintet is poaching a rising UBS star as well as an asset manager from Geneva's Lombard Odier, finews.com has learned.

The Luxembourg-based private bank is hiring James Purcell, a long-standing UBS banker, as its head of environmental, social, and governance, or ESG, investing, effective next month, a person familiar with the hire told finews.com. The British banker, currently head of sustainable and impact investments at UBS, is a key part of the Swiss wealth manager's «green» push.

The move comes as Qatari-owned Quintet is poised to clinch a Swiss deal as well as launch in the Nordics, and as CEO Juerg Zeltner returns to work following an undisclosed illness. «Juerg is transitioning back to the office while continuing to focus on a health issue,» a spokesman for Quintet said.

The wealth manager is also hiring Carolina Moura-Alves (pictured below) as its head of asset allocation, effective this month. She is also a former UBS banker, but was hired from Lombard Odier, where she was head of allocation in multi-asset strategies for the past nine months.

A spokesman for Quintet confirmed the hires of Purcell and Moura-Alves. They represent the latest in a series of ex-UBS bankers to join Zeltner at the venture. Former UBS European entity boss Thomas Rodermann is tipped to take over at Merck Finck, a 150-year-old loss-making German private bank in Quintet's stable.
