Swiss private bank Mirabaud has appointed a new head of the onshore business in Uruguay. He has vast experience from working in the region – also for a Swiss private bank.

Reto Hunziker and Sandra Kunze used to work for Julius Baer in Montevideo until early March, when the Zurich-based bank closed its offices in the capital of Uruguay. Now, both have found a new employer: Hunziker (pictured below) was put in charge of the Mirabaud Advisory in Uruguay, the Swiss firm said in a statement on Thursday. Kunze was also hired by the bank to support Hunziker in his task.

Hunziker has 30 years of experience working for Swiss banks in Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil, with Kunze weighing in with another 15 years.

More Changes Due?

The Montevideo office so far was led by Fabio Kreplak, who had joined Mirabaud at the start of 2019, together with a five-strong team. Kreplak will henceforth take charge of the other Latin American offices of the Geneva-based private bank.

Hunziker and Kunze won’t likely be the last to join Mirabaud coming from Julius Baer, said «Citywire». The closure of the office by Julius Baer was a consequence of its strategy to focus on a choice few markets.
